Defining "enough." There’s always more and further: influences to soak up, instruments to pick up, exploring my voice and the piano, connecting with other artists, building an audience in new cities/countries/continents, getting wider exposure, keeping up with the newest twitfacetumblspacespotpress, and on and on. Some people have boundless energy for some or all of this—Amanda Palmer & team come to mind—but I know myself well enough (ha) to know that success means having balance, privacy, white space in my life. This is a short answer to a question that deserves a much longer one, I think.
Food! Touring mode has developed my love of dining out; being in school has rekindled my love of cooking; I hope the future involves staying in one place long enough to take up gardening (and maybe even a bit of animal husbandry).
Other than that…great journalism. I’ve got huge respect for people who tell thoughtful stories about things that really happened.
It’s a dual degree program, MBA and MS, that takes three years. So I’ll graduate April 2013.
The song Paul Freeman & I wrote is in F major! For some reason it’s never been quite the right key for all the other songs. Strange how different a melody feels in E or F#.
Other than fishing, not yet. Starting to look around Ann Arbor for opportunities…a nearby Amish chicken farm hosted a lesson for some Erb Institute students last year, and there’s a hunting club in the environmental school. Roommate & I are contemplating a chicken coop, if we find time for a non-school project in the warmer months…
