I actually looked forward to getting old when I was younger; there was something about having that much personal history, that much experience to reflect on, that really appealed to me—a lot more than being a lovelorn twentysomething.
There are some aspects to aging that give me pause: the way your body starts to betray you little by little, taking longer to learn things, and so on. I like to think I’m comfortable with my age as each year goes by, but I still pull out gray hairs when I find them in the bathroom mirror. There’s still time to cultivate some grace about the whole thing, I hope.
