Are you vegetarian??

Wonder whether two ?s mean "because that would be SO COOL" or "because that would be WACK, my friend—meat rules"…

I’m not vegetarian and I don’t think I ever will be, but I’m working to get to a point where bacon (mmmmbacon!), roast chicken or a salmon fillet are very occasional treats, and preferably from animals I’ve raised/hunted myself or gotten from someone I know. I’ve read a fair bit about animal agriculture and fishing practices, and the evidence is overwhelming: from pretty much every angle—environmental, economic, health-wise, national-security-wise, energy-wise, political, and yes, moral—it doesn’t make sense to eat a lot of animal products on a regular basis.
(Highly recommend Eating Animals by Jonathan Safran Foer—great example of how a passionate, clearly biased viewpoint can go hand in hand with exhaustive research and thoughtful reflection).

As a side note: does anyone else find it weird that some people who eat fish still call themselves vegetarian?

Ask me anything
