Thought I’d post a response to a recent forum topic:
Fear not, signing with Zoë/Rounder is good news for everyone involved, including Michael Tarlowe and the other hardworking folks at Virt Records. Believe me, I know I wouldn’t be where I am now (and you likely wouldn’t be at this website) if it weren’t for their tireless efforts, and I would only go to a new label if the move were beneficial all around. Rounder was #1 on my list because they share a basic philosophy with Virt: artistic freedom makes for great albums, and the people who promote them should be passionate about the music first and foremost. We’ll all be working together on this third release.
Besides, Virt Records won’t have much time for little ol’ me when their fine new bands Ellery and The Bittersweets come out with their albums later this year. Do check them out!
