some talented people, boy

Crazy things are happening to Blue Caravan in mixing. We’ve gone back and forth on what should play the solos; I prevailed with my viola/E-bow combination, but I think Larry and Helik are actually having the last word on the topic. Whatever imaginary country this instrument hails from, I want a plane ticket there.

A large box arrived via FedEx this afternoon, containing a first for me: commissioned artwork for the album cover. The artist, who works by day as an architect in Virginia, has been nice enough to work on nights and weekends, creating pieces while listening to rough mixes I sent him. It so happens that Blue Caravan is his favorite, and sifting through packing peanuts while it played in the background was, well, apropos to say the least. I uncovered the first piece just as the apex of the song hit. Some moments are so movie-perfect, you can’t help but get chills.
