Don't know how many of you have been able to hear this song performed
before (the only show I know of is 29Dec04), but it's a beautiful song
and I just discovered a recording of Vienna performing it on Andreas Sahar's web site. (http://www.andreassahar.com) I was just listening to
the 29Dec show and struck again by the tune- it's a beautiful song. So, I
searched for Andreas, found his web site, and sent him a check for his
CDs.
Thought others here would like a chance to hear it. Does anyone know of
this song having been performed by Vienna at any other show? 29Dec04 is the
only one in my database.

Thanks Scot for your research !
Abound (Andreas Sahar cover ) :
-Beautiful cover with simply a duo Vienna and her Piano friend
-quite same emotions with Cannonball (Damien Rice cover) and Leaving on a Jet Plane (John Denver cover) _________________ Oh if a man tried
To take his time on Earth
And prove before he died
What one man's life could be worth
I wonder what would happen

Digging the song, but I can't find the full lyrics.
Best I've found is as below(found here: http://www.thinkoholic.com/?m=20050110).. everything after the "quoted" section I figured out, but don't know if it's perfect.
| Quote: | you had asked if i love you
and i never could say
and you want me to answer
in any old way
i'm trying to tell you
simple words could not show
and will never be spoken
still i want you to know
so i ask you to meet me tonight
by the gardens we walk, in the twilight
the roses abound by your side
i will hold you and let you decide |
i will hold you and let you decide
well there are times when I've wondered
if you're reading my mind
can you know what I'm feeling
when I look through your eyes
and now you ask if i love you
it almost seems so unfair
that you even must ask me
when the answer is right there
and so I want you to meet me tonight
by the gardens we walk, in the twilight
and the roses abound by your side
i will kiss you and let you decide
i will kiss you and let you decide
so i want you to meet me tonight
by the gardens we walk, in the twilight
roses abound by your side
and I will hold you and let you decide
yeah I will hold you and let you decide
and roses abound by your side
I will hold you and let you decide |

It's in B. The opening chords are C#m - E - F# - D#m. As far as I can tell, that's the same basic chord progression, for the verses at least. But then again, i'm no david beattie. I'm not sure if you can tell from the song what the notes she's hitting are, so it would go like this;
(C# bass) - C# - E - C# - G# - E, for the C#m chord. The technique is the same for all the chords, until about the time she sings "What I'm trying to tell you...", then i get lost.
It's in some sort of mode, though I can't really remember which. I think
Dorian. |
