*sporfles* Of all the places to see a reference to that song...
"You've made us swear our souls to you
And blamed us for your poisoned grace."

Yeah, I was slightly hesitant because of the context of this forum... but I just couldn't resist!

I don't blame you. I would have done the same thing, had I noticed it before you did. Then again, im a bit insane. (thats why everyone loves me. And why *they* are out to get me.)

I suppose that the reference wouldn't really be connected to the song if you really were going on Cayamo 2010. Since they've shortened the cruise, they've lowered the price. Which increases the chances for people to go.

His, iirc. Hard to say, since the answer was relayed by the DJ on the air and didn't get posted on the station blog as they sometimes do. I got the impression, but can't be sure, that the requester's favorite memory was Vienna's performances. It sounds like Vienna made a bunch of new fans on the cruise. I read a blog post from one of the organizers singing her praises, on the promoters' site.

I should take this person's cue in my attempts to get 'FUV to play Vienna more. Of all of her songs, City Hall and Homecoming fit their format best.

Hi all, my name is Haruo (from France) and I had the amazing experience of being on board on the cayamo cruise 2009. I caught Vienna's show at Dazzles, I wish I saw her more but that didn't happen due to scheduling conflicts. However, the only time I saw her was absolutely wonderful, the room was so packed. I knew a bit about Vienna's songs before the cruise, I wasn't really familiar with her repertoire but she just blew me away.

The show itself was fantastic, people were trying to find somewhere to sit, it was so crowded, I was quite impressed that Vienna would draw such a big audience. You just knew that we were in for a great show, the atmosphere was electric. I was on board mainly because I am a huge fan of Brandi Carlile and Tift Merritt so when they both joined Vienna on stage, you could imagine how I felt : my two favorite artists with the amazing Vienna ! After the show, I met Vienna, I told her how much I loved the show, I handed her a picture of me with the Bowmans, a musical duo from Iowa (they were on Cayamo 2008 btw), she recognized them " oh yeah, it's Claire and Sarah Bowman !" she was quite excited. I then made her sign a photo and got a picture taken with Vienna.
I really loved Vienna's sweet voice and I was also impressend by Alex Wong, he's a great intrumentalist.

I think I have the audio from that show if you're interested. I took some pictures during her performance, you can see them here

I think I also have a video of Vienna and Alex performing during the last night on board of the ship in an impromptu session at the Atrium.

Brandi Carlile joined Vienna on numerous times because I think she said she opened for Vienna some years ago and have been friends since then.

I won't be able to go on Cayamo 2010 but I highly recommend it if you can, it's just an unfogettable experience because you of course get to see your favorite artists if they happen to be invited (Brandi and Tift) and some others that you wouldn't get to see otherwise. I was quite intrigued to see, as it was my first ever cruise, if I would be able to keep the pace and attend three or four shows a day. I fared pretty good in my opinion, it was really fun, so wel organized and the artists were just fantastic.

oh I only found out this forum like yesterday, hence the very late report but the memories are still vivid, it must have been amazing hahahaha

I uploaded the impromtpu song Vienna and Alex sang during the last night of cayamo at the Atrium

I wanted to see another band but I just got too tired at the end, I walked back to my room and stumbled upon the Hanseroth twins from Brandi Carlile band singing and then Alex and Vienna took their turn too. The next morning we arrived in Miami and then I flew directly to Boston to see Missy Higgins, that was quite a ride....

So if she does in fact plan to cover this next year, I may actually have to go.

She and Alex have been confirmed for Cayamo '10 for months, as have a lot of others. WPA (Works Progress Administration) has recently been confirmed, too, so it looks like another great cruise. The headliners (there are only five this time 'round because the cruise will be shorter) will be Brandi Carlile, Lyle Lovett, Emmylou Harris, John Hiatt and Steve Earle. For the full lineup (or all of those announced to date, anyway) check out www.cayamo.com.

I, unfortunately, won't be returning for 2010, although we may make it for 2011. A trip to South Africa is on the calendar for us next February and we just couldn't do both.

I encourage anyone who can make it to do so. It really is quite the experience. Whether she actually covers this song or not, I can pretty much guarantee a good time will be had by all. :D

Got email today that Amazon has a contest giving away two tickets to this cruise in Feb. 2010 through their Lyle Lovett store.

Thanks for the link, Micro - I just entered. But what happens if the winner shows up and says, "You know, I really don't care for Lyle Lovett. I just entered for the chance to see Vienna!"

No matter..... there are so many performers on this cruise you'll find that everyone has his or her favorite one or two and it's impossible to love (or see) them all!

Our trip to South Africa wound up being scheduled for June, but we're still not going to make it on the cruise this time around. Planning to catch Vienna and Glen Phillips in Orlando on February 27th, though.
