Symbolic song titles

Postby Rotkehlchen » Sat Jan 12, 2008 4:20 am

After reading asteroid's comment

if(!u){i=null;} [..] this name is REALLY COOL.

I was inspired of this: "9.8m/s^2" ;)

I tried extending the list and came up with the following selection (in order of albums and tracks):

    x^^n

    mv

    GmM/r^2
    [less anthropocentric than 9.8m/s^2]

    XX x XY -> XX

    I|I

    printf("uncle")

    void(0)

    a + b = 0

    type #1.txt>nul

    !Miller !Cheng

    10n+1

    8080

    E=mc^2
    [admittedly rather extreme]

    E=hv [can anyone make BBCode do Greek characters?]

    37.744476, -122.420685 [thanks, arcsol!]

    BIOHAZARD

    Ii ?

    F G C

    & @}--,--'--,--

    /+\

    F=ma

    {..., -1, 0, 1, 2, ...}

    >40

    ^C

    XX=XX XY=XY

    if(!u){i=null;}

    IiI

    [CO2]

    R--

But if(!u){i=null;} remains the most ingenious so far!

Ingenious nmenomics Rotkehlchen. I'm too simple for that thinking.
My favorites tracks: 40;1:30;[];1/1;3
if(!u){i=null;}

we are one crazy bunch eh? i've added the ones not in bold

    x^^n

    mv

    GmM/r^2
    [less anthropocentric than 9.8m/s^2]

    I|I

    printf("uncle")

    type #1.txt>nul

    10n+1

    E=h
    v [can anyone make BBCode do Greek characters?]

    1 cd·sr·m^(–2) [rather obscure]

    37.744476, -122.420685 [i'm fairly sure this is accurate. all things considered, this ranks as one of the creepiest (as in stalker creepy) things i've gotten from the internets. lol]

    F G C

    [span style="color: #0000FF;"]caravan[/span] [3rd edit - the software REALLY doesn't like HTML tags that much]

I still prefer E=hv here.

It certainly matches Scot's Song Notes fairly well...
- and suggests
    41.409197, -122.19489
for the next but one on the list.

It occurred to me that perhaps #2 on DTTN could be symbolized as "press any key to continue", but considering what everyone else has come up with that seems rather lame... :oops:

There is unfortunately no <Any> key on my German keyboard... ;)

<Ctrl><Alt><Del> seems to be looking for a song - perhaps Vienna will write one some day?

I edited my original post again today to include 6 further titles, making WS look a little less thin (though my ASCII graphics feel like cheating).

Several songs are still crying out for symbolic titles...

Wow, I think I only understand about -e^(i*pi) of these.

My maths teacher enjoyed dividing certain expressions by [sin^2(x) + cos^2(x)]^0.5 to help simplify them.

As micro mentions, there are now 12 candidate songs for the 4th. CD.

It's not so easy to come up with appropriate symbolic titles in the absence of most of the lyrics, and of course only Vienna knows which songs will appear in which order on the CD, so here are my tentative suggestions in alphabetical order. Sorry that one is really obvious!

When the CD is released, I'll amend and append to my original post.

    MIR

    8.31

    XX <- XX <- XX

    <Ctrl><Alt><Del>

    KS

    !GB !USA

    Canes Venatici - 1

    T(0) = 273 K; T'(t) > 0

    f'(x) = 0; f"(x) < 0

    h
    v = 2.82kT

Oh, I never thought I could have started such a topic. But really can't figure out what some symbols you guys thought of atually are... I haven't explored any further in physics since I left high school.

I think <ctrl><alt><del> can make a rather typical song about ending a love affair... just that naive and playful style, even a little bit too vulgar for Vienna

I used to have ...ben as my handle name in other forums. And actually got a few private messages asking me what were the first 3 letters of my name. I missed those days.
