Red Hot Chili Peppers~ Stadium Arcadium

I bought the regular album and the "black box." Still very happy that these guys got over their drug addictions and continue to create such lush music. For four years I waited for this double album after By The Way. It's a great album, though many detractors may continue to ask, "where is the funk?" It is still there.

Of all the songs, all 28 of them, I love "Hey" the most. I really like all the songs on the album, but this song is really a great chill song and has one of the best guitar solos I have heard. Keeps motivating me to change and drop my bad habits.

gotta say that some of the songs are their greatest, wet sand off the first disc for instance, but the rest of the album falls a little flat. And didnt they cancel some of the UK appearances? i think they were meant to be at leeds but never made it. kiedis back on something?

There are some songs off the album that I sorta like, but not as much as Hey or Wet Sand. But I still enjoy them regardless.

I don't think Kiedis is back on drugs. But I don't know. ha!

I'm just now getting into Stadium Arcadium and I must say that Wet Sand is such an incredible work of art! I love the guitar wail/slide that enters in the 2nd verse and the closing chorus and guitar solo. It's such a perfect song! Hey is pretty good, too.

I've been reading some negative opinions about the album, calling it pop slop and crying out for the funk, but all I know of RHCP is a couple of their biggest poppish hits (don't remember their names); I like the pop stuff!

Yeah. We all miss their who gives a sh!t FUNK out of their "socks" [if you can recall that they were once known to just wear socks on their ... ]songs. But, every musician changes their sound as they age.

I like to think of this album as a celebration of their constant movement towards exploration of different genres and ideas. I sure do miss their raw funk songs from Uplift Mofo Party Plan and Freaky Styley, but I really like the more thoughtful sounds and lyrics of Californication and By The Way.

Wet Sand is a great song.
