Perhaps I'm alone in this feeling.... but Sting's "Fields of Gold" still bores me to death,... even when Vienna plays it. I have no idea how it ever got to be popular.

Don McLean, on the other hand, knows how to write a song. I didn't know that song was called "Vincent". Interesting and a bit random to hear Vienna cover it.

I just listened to the Vincent video, but it makes me nervous. Laughing of children always in background, very poor quality, ...

I tought this would be a recording from a show in a closed room.
Nice song, but not this clip.

I didn't even know it was popular until someone asked us to play it at a wedding last year as the wedding party came in. I must say we were quite bored with it, too, by the time everybody got to the front! However, the video of Vienna singing it was much nicer than the tape of Sting they gave us to learn the tune.

It's actually one of my favorite songs of all time. :P I just absolutely love the imagery of that song.

I think Vienna did a great job on the cover (with a good deal of variation from the original), but I'm still partial to the Sting version myself.

I concur. Eva Cassidy's version of it is stellar.

btw, for all The Office fans, Scrantonicity covered it in the wedding episode.

Sting bores me to tears...period. Although I'm not a big fan of this song, I have to agree that Eva Cassidy's version is beautiful. Mary Black also does a nice job with it....and of course Vienna's covers are always the best.

Love the song... Maura O'Connell , Sting, and now Vienna!!!

She just did it in Larchmont NY 9/19 (see my review of show in performances section)

Her live rendering of it is Incredible and enriches the song as well!

Thank you Vienna for another very pleasent surprise cover!!!

Hope to hear it again live....soon!

Steve
