New York Sings For Haiti

In case any of you couldn't catch VT's set during the show, the segment of the stream is up here:

http://www.livestream.com/nysingsforhai ... 73336ad50b

Setlist:
Soon Love Soon (Allstars Edition)
Homecoming
Antebellum (with STRINGS!)

And here's a link to The Paper Raincoat's Set:
http://www.livestream.com/nysingsforhai ... 7ac5f424f7
Brooklyn Blurs
Sympathetic Vibrations (starring V's cheerleading/clapping)
Rewind

followed by Help Is On The Way by the entire gang:
http://www.livestream.com/nysingsforhai ... efc713bac1

Watching the entire thing as it was happening was definitely an experience, especially with all the facebook and twitter updates from everyone, as well as the livestream chatroom. :)

Aside from these links, there's tons of good stuff throughout the night. The rest of the videos are posted here:

Thanks for the links, Tanthalas! I had to leave the streaming right after the Spring Standards finished their set...to do music theory homework and practice piano, no less, haha! But, oh my, were there some great acts or what? I'm definitely going to follow up on some of the talents that I saw for the first time last night. It was great to see much of the fb community excited about VT and The Paper Raincoat, yay! @aparallel - nice tweeting with you while we watched the streaming!

Ah! Good fun talking to you too, @kalenabear! Wow, you're a music student too? I didn't have music theory homework, but did sacrifice piano time for this concert...I had to read for Social psych, but I did watch the entire show. I'm such a horrible student, but such a big music fan  .

Nice connecting with you, too, Scot! It's the Teng twitterati! :) I know that there are more of you out there. Feel free to add me, if you'd like.

Aaparallel - I'm just taking private music lessons, because...you know, Mom was right that I'd regret quitting piano in middle school, hah. You're not a horrible student, you're a dedicated fan! Besides, college is all about...um...multitasking, heh! At least you didn't just keep the stream on for background noise while you studied! ;)

Does anybody know if they're going to put the concert footage on DVDs to sell? I mean, they've already streamed it and could send the DVD profit to Haiti.

That's a great idea! I enjoyed watching the live feed much more than I
thought I would! Of course, didn't hurt that I was still at work either. ;)

For those of you who don't follow Alex on Twitter...here is a link to somebody who reviewed the concert. He usually blogs about The Paper Raincoat and other NY musicians. Quite a good read.

http://www.opticality.com/blog/2010/01/ ... for-haiti/

Anyway, he answers my question about the DVDS:

"If I understand correctly, as soon as possible, they will release a CD and DVD of the show as well, having additional opportunities to raise more funds for this very worthy cause."

Send me a copy! I also think he's right about this: "The purpose of this post, and of last night, wasn’t to critique the performance, but to revel in the kindness and generosity of all involved, performers and audience alike."
