Hi,

Looks like the Vienna Teng web site hasn't been changed in quite a while. The Thoughts, Pictures, Bio, Songscraps, etc setions have been the same for ages. And the Vienna Teng Street Team Yahoo Group hasn't had a new posting since October. Vienna hasn't posted anything for quite a while and no gigs are scheduled.

Is this the calm before the release of the new album? Will there be a remodeled web site? There is precious little official information about the new album on the web site or board.

Yeah,

it is too bad there are no "Thoughts" entries... artists writing journal entries is
a really great way of staying in touch with the fans and it is one of those small
effort things that really make a big difference (and it keeps the fans interested).

maybe she's just really really tired from all that touring and is so swamped by
work right now for the launch of the new album... but what do i know. emm
gryner's site (www.emmgryner.com) is a great example of an artist keeping in
touch with the fans... she writes in it almost on a daily basis.

"Yes," I believe, is the answer to most of your questions. (The notable exception being "Is Vienna missing?")

Rest assured there'll be info about gigs and the album and the website and so on forthcoming in the next month. B)

Eric: The release of the album is less than a month away. I thought more promotions would've started by now. Are you going to surprise us with a barrage of clips and info? I think the Street Team is just itching to start spreading the word, and hooking more people in. Unfortunately, I have received nothing from the Street Team organizers -- hence, nothing to go on. Patience, I suppose... huh?

Norm: I had no idea that there was a Yahoo Groups for the VT Street Team until I read your post. How does one get accepted into the group? It said there needs to be confirmation from the moderator or something of that nature.

Guest_Alderon: I was sort of hoping Vienna would write in her online journal some more too. I enjoy her writing style very much.

Virt's and Deep South's street teams (yes there are two) woke up last Monday. If you are on the Virt street team you should have gotten an e-mail. I personally haven't been able to join it even though I've signed up like three times. I do get their general newsletter.

The Bay Area people on the Deep South street team got some promo cards, but the bulk of the promo goodies (posters and stuff) won't go out to everyone for a while yet. The cards I have say "available in stores now" so they're not quite supposed to be out yet. They'll be passed out at the SF Symphony today.

Is the Virt one the vtlocal@lists.vienna......? (don't want spammers to harvest addresses now do we?) I have them on my "safe list" so it won't be filtered into the junk mail, but I haven't received any word from them in a long time.

Anyone else get the e-mail? Can you please forward it to me? PM me and I'll give you my e-mail. Thanks!

No, that's Vienna's info list. ;) I don't see a way to join Virt's Vienna list anymore, I guess you need to e-mail them directly about it. You can sign up for their general newsletter <a href='http://www.virtrecords.com/artists.html' target='_blank'>here</a>.

So I personally am confused by all this stuff, also. I'm just a simple unfrozen caveman webmaster. But as an FYI, I do know that vtlocal and vtnews have been deprecated. All those addresses were added to our single database, which includes zipcode data. So instead of dividing the lists into "bay area" and "everywhere else," we have better info about where y'all live, and so when you might want to actually get an email.

If you were on one of those lists, we still have your email address, but we may not have your zipcode. If you want us to have it, you can log in and add it yourself by going to <a href='http://viennateng.com/high/contact/user.php' target='_blank'>the users page</a>. Your password will be your email address unless you've changed it already.

(Incidentally, Vienna has been helping get the zipcode distance code working lately -- dusting off her programming chops. :) She's rad that way.)

As for the street team(s), I'm not part of that bit of organization, so I can't comment. :(

Yeah, that's not a good sign. I sent you an email, Michele.

If anyone else thinks he/she should be on the list but didn't get the update email last night, or can't log in, email me at eric@viennateng.com.

Then again the problem might be because I wasn't signed up to begin with. Never mind! :D

This might be an interesting tidbit to know: during part of this long publicity hiatus, Vienna was coding. Yep, she was hacking together a script in PHP/MySQL to allow her to spam people by location (e.g. "spam everyone within 100 miles of zip code 94131").

Gotta stay in touch with that engineer/geek side somehow, right?

Oh we would never consider mail from Miss Vienna spam. Not unless she starts getting into the Viagra and home loan refinancing business! B)

Glad to hear she's still using both sides of her brain.

94131 is me, too! ;)

Well, except that I'm 10023 for the next two months.
