Scrapbook post

Postby Fred » Wed May 18, 2011 9:51 pm

Probably I'm the only one who didn't notice the new one, lol. In it Vienna posts a scrap of an old journal written at 16 in which she doubts her progress and laments lost enthusiasm, and talks herself back into positivity. She (now) wonders whether that should be depressing or reassuring, but favors the latter. Of course that's right. She's written new scrapbook entries within the last year or two that sound very similar to the old one. Only proves that she's self-reflective, which precludes being sunny and optimistic 24/7/365 but leads to deep lyrics. :) (I worry about people who are always down--or always up, in different ways.)
Ain't praying for miracles, I'm just down on my knees
Listening for the song behind everything I think I know
And everything I think I know is just static on the radio.

I think I'd be a tad too embarrassed to post anything from my 16-yo journal. :D

I didn't notice it either, Fred, so don't feel bad. :D

That being said, of course my perception is limited only to what she quoted in her scrapbook post, but damn I wish I sounded that contemplative and reflective at 16 years old. I think most of my journaling at that point consisted of whining about grades and school, and occasionally fandom.

I'm not surprised. She wrote Eric's Song at 19 iirc. :)
