Vienna on Mountain Stage radio

Postby Fred » Wed Oct 01, 2008 3:18 pm

Surprised I haven't seen an announcement of this on this site. Vienna's Mountain Stage performance is scheduled for radio broadcast during the week starting this Friday, October 3, exact date depending on your local station. The lineup also includes Carrie Rodriguez and Crooked Still.

And for those who haven't had the pleasure of hearing some of Vienna's new songs live here's your chance; the playlist:

Gravity
In Another Life
Brooklyn Blues*
Grandmother Song

*Probably should be Brooklyn Blurs

See if the show is broadcast on your local public radio station.

Or maybe the audio stream will appear here

It will almost certainly be streamed here, but not until a couple of weeks later. For other NYC area folks, the place is WFUV 90.7 (which should be playing Vienna regularly, but doesn't, by the way) 2-4 PM. I'm not sure if it will be tomorrow or next Friday, since Mountain Stage affiliates have 10 days to air the feed. I don't know if WFUV is up-to-date or delayed, since I don't usually get a chance to listen at that time of day.

I just listened to this driving from Philly back to NJ. I'm surprised I didn't drive off the road with how eagerly I squealed.

Was that on WFUV or WXPN? Once again work prevented me from listening, so I don't know if I missed it on 'FUV or not. If I did, I'll catch it on the stream in a week or two. And...I've got tickets for my first Vienna concert in Mamaroneck, NY, at the Emelin Theatre in January. Woohoo!

The NPR audio stream of the Vienna's segment of the show can be found here. For new fans, the page also has links to previous NPR coverage of Vienna.

I completely agree with coming back to this performance...love love the harmonies Vienna and Alex create. And it's refreshing to finally hear a couple of Vienna's new songs. Gah, waiting is just icky sometimes. And..."Lucy in the sky with diamonds" phrase = love also.

Thanks for the heads up, Fred. I listened this past weekend but the station I tried was doing pledge breaks, so they didn't air The Rescues or the end jam. Loved the huge audience response after each song...

For those interested, as previous noted by Fred, the Mountain Stage Archives page now has the entire show available.

Ooh, thanks for posting. Is this going to make me late for class? We'll see...*notices Regina Spektor on there as well*...uh-oh. :)

I haven't gotten around to listening to the whole archived show on the MS site yet myself (very busy work cycle right now) but Vienna's performance from that show on the NPR site sure was fine! It would be nice to hear her on the radio more often!
