Q&A with Vienna, December 2007

Postby Vienna » Mon Nov 26, 2007 7:02 pm

I've been incommunicado for months, I know, so if you have questions, bring 'em! I can pass along questions for my bandmates and songwriter friends too, if you like. I'll start answering on December 1st.

Bonjour à tous !

First, thanks very much for being so nice a music band to let freely your fans take pics with you all !

Questions about Abound - Andreas Sahar cover :
- Will the whole and authentic lyrics that you have re-adapted from the original one of Andreas Sahar be available on Scot's Vienna Teng Page in songnotes section ? - or not if restricted by some copyrights stuffs ?
- Any details of what parts of the lyrics that had been changed ?

Avec mes remerciements,

Hi Vienna,

First of all, thanks so much for continuing to share your talent
with us in soooo many ways. I am (as I believe are many of us) much
appreciative.

Second, to answer the Walking Stranger - they are already there (at least in the form posted here). So please let me know, Vienna, if they shouldn't be! :>

Now, some questions:!
1) Do you have enough socks yet?

2) This has been another big year for you - tours, DVDs, lost notebooks,
the big move, .... How's it all look to you in retrospect? You're roughly
half-way through along your previous 11-year plan - how do you see it
proceeding at this point? Where do you want to be, professionally (and not
geographically) in say another 5 years?

3) And the one everyone's wanting to know - when are you coming to Hawaii? :>

And since it's only fair. Here are my answers:
1) Yeah, but many probably should be thrown out at this point, so I guess I
could use a few more pairs.

2) Interesting question, Vienna. I'm discovering that astronomical
projects are a lot more fun than astronomical institutions, so my 5-10-year
plan would be to be leading some new astronomical project (preferably
somewhere here in Hawaii, since I still love it here). On the other hand,
the Director of my new place seems to understand this and is working to
instill a more project-like atmosphere in this institution. I therefore
hope to learn from his efforts and play a bigger part of it. Bringing the
project to the institution sounds like a fun place to be, too! I also want to
discover some more totally cool things and write lots of wonderful papers! ;)

3) What? I'm already here!

Thanks again, Vienna!

Greetings Vienna!

I hope this won't be too much to take on:

I'd like to know what the concrete plans for, let's say: the next year are. Will you constantly tour the states or even overseas; doing a gig just every once in a while or take some time off of touring, concentrating on development of new material? Do you plan ahead at all? :P

Is a new album even in the planning stage as of now?
Are you approaching a (possible) new record totally from scratch or is there some unuses/unfinished material in your backpack that you might take on again?

Could you imagine to shoot videos for single songs off of a record if you'd have the chance, or is that kind of "promotion" not your thing at all?

Would you consider the European concerts a success?
Planning to come back?

Thanks for the autographs and, of course: a great show in Berlin!

:)

btw: I just recently stumbled upon your studivz profile, and was wondering if it was really yours and not a fake

Holy moly it's that time of year again!!!

1.] Soooooooooo, Vienna, did you like our socks? Or did you find it strange to get a horde of socks given to you? You can be honest! Maybe next time should be hats...

2.] Amongst the cries of us Forumers, what did YOU think of the DVD release of the WCL show?

3.] Have you rocked out lately? :)

Question #1, two parts

How are you? Did you enjoy Europe and its cuisine?

Question #2

What was your most memorable moment on tour this year?

Question #3
Will you tour Asia next year?[/b]

How did those improv and dance-fighting classes go? Are you going to demo some moves for the SF shows? ;)

Will you get Vienna premium seats at the next Dim Sum restaurant like you did for Mr. Cheng if she answers  ?

Just joking around of course but you were mentioned on echeng's website the other day for getting him seated quickly without having to wait.

Hi Vienna,

Are there any evident differences between the live audiences in America and Europe, or between East and West coast of the United States, or between NorCal and SoCal, in how they respond, listen, and interact with you and your songs during live shows?

wow, q&a time already. has that much time really gone by?

ok, a few questions from the other side of the planet...
1. with all the touring, how much time do you actually get to experience living in new york?
2. if you could use one word to describe the true vienna, what would it be? (this could lead to another shell.)
3. when will you be coming to shanghai?

Hm, what to ask...

What do you look forward to the most before a performance? Or, what is your favorite aspect of performing for people?
What is (are) your favorite book(s)?

:)
