I'd just thought I would mention that Nightwish is touring the U.S. right now. My husband and I are going to go see them in Las Vegas in a couple of weeks at the House of Blues. I'm not excited about the band opening for them though. We'll either arrive late, or have to use some serious ear plugs. T...

I saw Ingrid Michaelson last night. She is very, very good! I love her voice, and she also has quite a sense of humor. She performed a few songs solo with her keyboard and the rest she was accompanied by guitar. Allie Moss, who was her back up vocalist and played the guitar was excellent. They did s...

Well, I took some advice from this thread, and I read The Rape of Nanking . It was very interesting and well written. I'm sorry that the author, Iris Chang, is not around to write anymore books like that. I took A. P. US history in High school, and I don't remember learning anything about the Rape o...

I normally don't read very often because I am the type of person who can't put a book down once I get started. That doesn't work too well being a busy Mom of three kids. I've been on a reading rampage lately though since my husband has been out of town for a month. I finally had to limit myself to r...

It would be hard for me to get to New York, but if there was a concert and I was in the area, I'd bring my kids and they'd join in on the last verse of Lullabye for a Stormy Night. I sing some pretty good harmony on Harbor too, I'm much better in a duet or choir though, so no solos for me!

Doro was something my husband would like more than me---her voice just didn't do it for me. Nemesea on the other hand sounded pretty good. I've actually found some recommendations on Youtube on the comments of some Nightwish and Within Temptation videos---you have to read a lot of crap to get to the...

Thanks for recommending Lacuna Coil. They are pretty good. There is definitely a lot out there. Some of what I have checked out has some good female vocalists and you think the song is going to be good, and then some guy will start growling or yelling or something---totally ruining it for me. I don'...

I haven't bought an entire album of theirs yet, but I have downloaded a few of their songs both old and new. They are a lot of fun. They take me back to the days of groups like Belly, the Primitives, and the Darling Buds---though different, they still remind me of the good old days and make me feel ...

Symphonic Metal

I have recently been introduced the this genre, in attempts to find music that both my husband and I can enjoy together. He is into hard rock/heavy metal and Latin music, I lean toward more Adult Alternative/Folk/Electronic, lately favoring female vocalists. I went to a Rush concert with him once, a...

Interesting music. The title Una Noche Mas reminded me of Soraya and her album En Este Noche. It was one of the first foreign language albums I purchased, gosh like 12 years ago. If you haven't heard any of her music check her out. She passed away in 2004 from Breast Cancer. One of my goals this yea...

Hi Vienna! I hope you'll make it back to Utah again soon. I have two questions that are repeats from last year, because I asked them too late. If you could tour with any band/artist and open for them who would it be? Who would be your ideal/dream opening act on a tour you were headlining? One more: ...

Charlotte Martin has a covers album out that she sells as an exclusive on tour, certainly Vienna could do even better.

I do have children, and while I haven't quite mastered the singing part, I'm quite good at snuggling with the kids and singing along while I play the song. I recently gave a copy of it to a friend who had her first baby. I love the lyrics especially the chorus. I am going to order the sheet music an...
