Re: January 2015

Happy New Year to you, too, Ang Mo!
You are still a little early for the Lunar New Year. So don't feel too bad.
And from another thread. This is decade and two for me. Amazing.

Re: Freight and Salvage, Berkeley, Dec 26, 2014

I would like to ditto everything Tanthalas said. Radio >> Shine really made an impression. It was the sort of magic I remember from 'the early days'. And I also enjoyed the comments about last songs on albums. The cover of TS' Shake It Off was particularly fun, and so was the comment about how to da...

Re: What I did on my summer vacation (BWW).

Hi Scott, Thanks for the pics. I was very interested to see your behind-the-scenes pics in Vietnam and Thailand. I am also happy that you were able to visit Korea - my favorite destination. Were you able to see ChomSongDae? As an astronomer, you would like to know about the oldest observatory in Asi...

Re: Durham, NC - Saturday, October 12, 2013

Everyone's performance on Saturday night was phenomenal. There was magic in the Carolina Theatre. I think Vienna's new music is made for the big stage. The new songs are so powerful. And having some older songs like "Atheist Christmas Carol" and "Homecoming" in the set was very s...

I didn't take notes, but if I edit the set list from Carolina Theatre, here's how the Altamont show went: Gravity Level Up Landsailor Close to Home The Hymn of Acxiom Copenhagen (Let Me Go) Oh Mama No The Breaking Light w/ Alex Wong Antebellum Flyweight Love In the 99 Grandmother Song Soon Love Soon...

Re: Anyone know anything about the opener for 10/12/13 Durha

I was pleasantly surprised. Emerson was polite, not too talkative, and respectful of his time on stage. I wasn't familiar with any of his songs until "If You Could Only See", which he said "Changed his life". I thought his last song about family pictures on the walls of his home ...

Re: Non-musical mood sounds in Vienna's music

I got to talk with David Henry at a show in Atlanta during the Warm Strangers tour. He told me about recording in the tunnel. He said that if I listened closely enough I would be able to hear trucks passing by on the highway. I never could hear anything other than the insects.

Thank you Chris! I'll be there, for sure! With this show, plus the two in October, 2013 is a great year in NC.

Re: Been Ten Years

Yessir! It has been about that long for me, too. I joined this forum April 11, 2003. Which means I experienced my first concert a few days before that. Thanks for the reminder! btw, I was a stage hand at a local charity event last weekend. And my band was one of five to play, as well. Between bands ...

Re: Paul/The Man in Blue

What a sad reason for me to return to the forum after such a long time. I haven't even been lurking. I too will miss Paul. I can say 'ditto' to so many comments made earlier here on the forum. I met The Man In Blue for the first time through this forum years ago. It was not a long wait before I met ...

David, Thanks for your continued efforts! I am happy that the books for the two latest albums will eventually be made available. Thanks also for your help with Daniel's guitar arrangement for "Nothing Without You" back in 2008. He and I tried to make out the chords from that video. Current...

Since my last post was in January 2010, I figured it's about time to check in again. Obviously, I haven't been so good at keeping up on "history". But I have not been totally absent from Vienna's scene, either. The title of this thread intrigued me. I think I'm very privileged to be one of...

CheJu is truly beautiful. It is a favorite destination for newlyweds to celebrate their honeymoon. The video you provided a link for is great - I've been to most of the locations pictured. I'm not a golfer, but the courses seem nice. I can provide a couple photos to supliment the video. You saw some...

My vote is for Atheist Christmas Carol, too. Maybe it has to do with its position just after Passage, but that opening chord really hits me. Then the arrangement and chorus just send me into quiet contemplation.

The other cool thing is that these concerts have reset my mental juke box. Songs from Inland Territory keep entering my mind and replaying themselves. The new songs seem to have displaced those from the previous albums, in my mind. It is all quite pleasant and I'm enjoying the good memories as well.
