Re: 2013-07-12 The Center for Arts in Natick, MA

Just catching up on this thread. I see I never submitted a review, but with all the others here I think that would be superfluous. In terms of her voice that night, I just assumed Vienna had a little cold or touch of allergy or some random frogginess. Only affected stuff at the top of her range, suc...

Re: Blairstown Historic Theatre, Blairstown, NJ - 20131005

I now rather regret my hyperbole, above, about how great the tour is going to be later. The three shows I just saw were all among the best of all the ones I've seen, and Blairstown could be the very best based not just on music but also on the homey venue, the picturesque old town, the great dinner ...

When Vienna, Alex, and Ward Williams performed at SOPAC at the end of their tour in 2009 they were quite "in the zone".

Vienna has this tour planned to the millisecond. Not gonna happen.

Re: Blairstown, NJ - 20131005

Well if Blairstown was the best of the 3 you saw, and I thought tonight's show at the Musikfest Cafe was the best of Blairstown, World Cafe Live, and Muskifest, folks attend future shows are in for a real treat. As you'd expect early in a tour, a lot of stuff is getting worked out. I saw evolution ...

Re: Highline Ballroom NYC - Oct 4, 2013

Slightly off topic request: I realize everyone that did the northeast leg of the tour seems to lean toward posting exclusively elsewhere but could you please bring your set lists, photos and stories home to the forum? Any links for us luddites who don't facebook or twitter? Thanks I will make sure ...

That's very exciting. Of the 3 excellent shows I saw, this was probably the best. Thank you!

Re: Blairstown, NJ - 20131005

Okay, I'm confused by "Copenhagen (Close to Home)." Was it some combination of the two? :?: Here's what I took down in my notes: ALEX: Same old things Never look back 20 faces Always something better w/VT Are you listening w/VT VIENNA: Gravity (river) solo Blue caravan w/Jordan and keys T...

Re: Highline Ballroom NYC - Oct 4, 2013

I don't have a set list. I'll leave that to Fred or Tom since they were both taking notes. I'll see what I have by way of photos that may be post worthy after I finish going through them all. The lighting at Highline isn't exactly the best for photography, but Adobe often comes to the rescue. In th...

Re: 2013-07-12 The Center for Arts in Natick, MA

Too late for a detailed review tonight, but suffice it to say that despite having to work through a slight touch of upper register difficulty in a couple of songs (nothing severe) this show was a tour de force for Vienna. Probably the crowd favorite was the "Lose Your Sunshine" medley. Ama...

Re: The end of Car Culture hopefully

I read the Rolling Stone article earlier. Apparently New York will be saved by favorable geology, political realism, and tons of money. New Orleans is already below sea level but for levees, and so it will continue. Miami, and really all of South Florida, is in the cross-hairs because of extreme fla...

Five years

It never occurred to me to wonder what I'd think of all of this five years down the road. Or that there would be a road I'd be on five years later. But there has been, and it has led me to clubs and theaters, road trips and webcasts, online discussions and personal friendships. It has also led me to...

Re: Highline Ballroom NYC - Oct 4, 2013

John, Yeah, I did the VIP upgrade, as much to get a shot at best seats as for the meet & greet. It says something ambiguous about VIP seating being better in the description. Still, line up early. The price was fine as far as I was concerned, but it was more like double the next-highest price, w...

Re: How I spent my evening <Highline Ballroom>

Chris, A little more about Highline that really speaks to the issues you raised. Probably the main reason they don't sell numbered seats is that they have a group sales plan where parties of 10 or more can get a reserved table with open bar and/or snacks and/or dinner, at astronomical prices, for so...

Re: How I spent my evening <Highline Ballroom>

Michele and Chris, The phone call the next day went better than I had feared. I talked directly to the head of the box office, and he told me to first buy VIP tickets and then contact him personally to get TicketWeb to refund the Gold Circle tickets. I will share his name and contact info by PM with...
