Hopefully a certain someone gave you an audience recording I did of Elbow (UK band) instore acoustic at Virgin Megastore (February 2002). Morose melodic stuff in short. You can find it hopefully still available on dimeadozen.org for downloading if anyone else is interested. 1) Did you get it? 2) If ...

Re: started in on archive updates

Hi all, I've started updating shows on the archive with the newer songs. And at least one that was not so new...but anyway, I'll keep updating as I have time. You can put up all the shows you taped with my gear on archive.org. Don't think there are any forbidden songs on them so just upload the who...

It is not.... but Taiwan's full "name" is Taiwan R.O.C which stands for Republic of China (strange enough). President Chan Shui Bien's party (pro independence) lost the district elections to the Kuomintang (pro China unification and all communists at heart) recently, which means all mayors and leade...

Tonight is also Jim's birthday. I'm glad I caught the show. Very intimate setting (reminded me of Diana Krall at Yoshi's trying out new material before going into the studio in 2003) and definitely well worth the charitable donation. New stuff was fab and a real eye opener. Perfomance was tight as u...

One needs to look no further than the hottest mainland export, the 12 Girl Band. I'm sure you've seen their CDs on infomercials at least somewhere. They've played many Chinese song covers/instrumentals as well. yesasia.com has their CDs and DVDs for ordering online.

For Vienna: Do you listen to or have you ever listened to Chinese music while growing up? If so do you have any favorite songs or performers? I'm thinking of songs beyond classics/anthems like Green Island Serenade. There are lots of great singers from the 70s to 80s period (and even 90s). Teresa Te...

What do I look for in music? Tthe melody comes first. If it's not catchy or if it doesn't grow on me, the arrangement can be fantatic and maybe have interesting lyrics (somewhat), but that would make me skip a particular track on a CD. I find certain vocalists to be a major turnoff, even though they...

Are any of those not recorded from the audience (i.e. soundboard, VT's PA)? :-)

I have no problem with honoring restrictions. :) I suggest giving this topic more exposure. At least get an entry into the BTAT section (bands that allow taping) list so that's one other means taken care of. I think this is linked to etree somewhere, but I can't remember. Vienna can also email the f...

Hopefully there's a recording out there. The only taper I know in Richmond, VA wasn't in town as he left for another show. What a shame!

Tonight's show was not sold out apparently. We saw quite a few empty seats, and three front row dead center seats completely empty the entire gig.

I think she performed that song during soundcheck, although not in full at the recent SF SBC Park Border's instore. I remember someone asked her about the song and she said it was a Damien Rice cover.
