Re: Freight and Salvage, Berkeley, Dec 26, 2014

If I only had one Christmas wish, I would want Vienna Teng to play Homecoming. If I had two Christmas wishes, I would want Vienna Teng to play Homecoming, and peace for all the children of the world. If I had three Christmas wishes, I would want Vienna to play Homecoming (of course), the crap about ...

Re: live show taping policy

Let us know if you find out any new information or insights. It would be nice to know what to expect. Looking forward to seeing Vienna soon!

Re: Paul/The Man in Blue

I was sad to hear of Paul's passing as well, though I knew he had been ill for awhile. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family. I can tell you exactly when and where I met Paul Hankins. It was November 21st, 2004. Vienna Teng had just finished an incredible show at Jammin' Java in Vienna, VA, a...

Candace selling her piano !?!

I know several of the people here have met Candace (CandaceC) at one or more of Vienna's shows. I thought I'd just point out she is selling her baby grand piano: http://newyork.craigslist.org/mnh/msg/2386397332.html Obviously, the market is pretty tight right now for things like this. If you know an...

*raises hand*

I listened to the link, but it didn't immediately grab me. I'm not saying it's bad, but just not hitting my sweet spot right now.

perhaps I'll hve to give them a longer try one of these days.

I have to agree that Jeannette showed courage in picking City Hall as her audition song, but have to give her the same advice I would give anyone trying out for anything, much less American Idol: - Pick something that complements your voice. Everyone has a different range, and you really need to kno...

I've always thought that something about Vienna or her music attracted a good class of fans. On the whole, they seem to be thinking, caring, socially conscious folks. I've known other groups that aren't quite as homogeneous in this regard (and others that are). I for one always felt honored that Vie...

Vienna's going back to school

For those of you not on twitter or facebook, she posted a new blog entry: http://viennateng.com/scrapbook/2010/03/new-chapter/ Basically, she's putting music to the side (but not giving it up) while she pursues an MBA. I'm both sad and happy at the same time. Sad that it will be fewer and farther in...

Looks good, Scot! Mine got curled on the way home, and I laid them out to get flat again. I have a frame that it might fit into, but I haven't otherwise done anything with it. Maybe one of these days.

I got my Vivaldi menu framed, but I don't think I ever posted a picture.

The argument for "lost CD sales" always seems to be an argument for an artist not allowing recording, when all the evidence I've seen points to the exact opposite. To date, I've never met anyone who told me that they weren't buying a CD because they had a live recording. If anything, the l...

Absolutely let us know! My advice is to try recording something that you're not too worried about first, so you can figure out how it works in real life. You'd hate to find out something's wrong in the middle of Vienna's set!

Yes, the shift in recording policy is recent and still evolving. It was revealed through a conversation I had with Alex and Vienna regarding recording a show in early December. Recording is still allowed, but can't be shared. I'm hoping this turns out to be a shorter term thing and the long-standing...

Unless the vocals and the piano started out as separate tracks, it's going to be near impossible to bring up the piano without altering the voice in some way. And I'm pretty sure normalizing in Audacity didn't affect the relative loudness (unless you threw in some compression as well). I suppose you...

It's possible, but an EP usually refers to a shorter album - usually no more than 5 songs. I don't remember if Vienna talked about putting out an EP first. Wasn't there something about two different EPs that eventually became Inland Territory?
