So glad I decided to do the crazy fan thing and go to both shows. Three new songs, two new covers (new to me, at least). I nearly fell off my chair laughing on 1 BR/1 BA with its evolution and Vienna's vocalizations after "My upstairs neighbors...." I went to the 7pm concert with one frien...

I didn't try too hard to get closer because I was with a friend who was happy to stay put spread out in back, and also another friend brought a friend with some little kids who were running around. Even though a bit distracting, it was nice to see so many little kids at a family friendly event. (And...

Very nice video of Vienna singing Maya! I was sitting too far back during the show to see much, but I really like the effect of the trees, Vienna's hair, and dress all being blown by the wind.

Oops, I managed to make a spastic pop into the other video.

Pink Martini

I just went to their concert with the San Francisco Symphony two days ago. I only recently got introduced to their music by a couple friends, but so far I'm liking what I hear, and the concert was a whole lot of fun. Hard to describe...Portland based, 12 members, many classically trained (and some c...

What a wonderful "homecoming" concert. I managed to find three Vienna-newbies to invite along, and they were all very impressed. "Amazing!" "Every one of her songs was so good." Everyone also admitted spending a lot of time watching Alex. :) Keeping three people complet...

What a wonderful idea. I just read the tour plan page and it sounds so well thought out, from the merchandise, to volunteering, to the water bottles. I continue to be impressed by Vienna, beyond her music. (I also really admired her response to the Q&A question about the five things she most val...

I didn't remember if she mentioned the name of the benefit either, but remembered it was at Freight and Salvage...it's on their website:

Food

Wow, a lot of different topics discussed here! Thanks Vienna for taking the time to satiate your fans' curiosity. :) Interesting mention about Korean food. I had a really really excellent Korean tofu house experience in New York several years back. Light, clean food but really tasty...unfortunately ...

lost count

I'm guessing > 50 since I went to probably 15-20 shows in 2001 alone, but I was only crazy enough to keep going back for more, and not crazy-organized enough to keep track of them all. :)

Paramount Theatre, Oakland CA

I am so happy I made it to this show! I was curious to hear Madeleine Peyroux, and also couldn't pass up the increasingly rare chance to catch Vienna back at home. I got there quite a bit early, and while waiting for the show to start I spent a good amount of time looking all around the amazing deta...

I started to listen to the mp3 myself while posting the last reply. :) I hadn't listened to that one in a while, and...wow. It brought back fond memories of early Vienna, solo with keyboard and tip jar, playing at places like the Blue Rock Shoot.

I believe you're referring to the "lake" version of Gravity. That old webpage with all the clickable seats still exists - the Gravity MP3 seat is near the center of the image.

I went through and clicked on all those stadium seats way back when v1 was the current and official website. :) It looks to me like it has been maintained intact and untouched just as it was originally. I remember reading all the lyrics back then and itching with impatience to hear those songs. :)

I happened to come across the wikepedia article myself a while back and also did the same thing, pulling her real name out of the article. I've actually seen her real name printed in at least one article before, but it may have been a Stanford article, so not quite as public. I figured it would be b...
