Re: Today's coverage in USA Today...

Hard to tell without the rest of the album, but to me based on these three songs it seems like a natural progression. Not too far afield from White Light, Grandmother Song, Augustine, Gringo, and Radio from Inland Territory. And I think Vienna would get bored with the same old thing without continui...

Loreena's concert was last night in Minneapolis. You're right, Ginny, it was phenomenal!! Amazing how good she sounds in person. She has quite a group of musicians accompanying her, as well (I think there were nine). It was a treat. As you say, I hope she tours again soon. I still don't have one of ...

Ginny, Good luck. I hope she ends up somewhere close to you at a time you can make it. I couldn't believe it either. I checked my e-mail yesterday, and I saw I had an e-mail from her e-mail list announcing a U.S. tour. I figured it would be a handful of dates and doubted she'd end up in Minneapolis....

Yes, I'm listening to Pandora. Took me some time to learn that if I gave a "thumbs up" to songs, the radio station would start to go terribly awry from what I originally set up. So I mostly thumbs down at this point. Works better for me than some of the other similar sites, because I still...

No, I don't have any of her live CDs. How does her live music compare to her studio albums? Would you recommend them?

Loreena McKennitt

Very different genre from Vienna, but Loreena McKennitt is among my favorites. McKennitt is usually classified as folk/world music with a Celtic influence. I'd recommend any of her three most recent studio albums, "The Visit," "The Mask and the Mirror," and "The Book of Secr...

I enjoyed Dina when I heard her Saturday night, but I have to admit I miss Alan, too. It may come from me listening to the house concert that was webcast too many times. Dina's playing seems more subtle and in the background, whereas Alan had sections of songs where the violin would come front and c...

Yes. One Bedroom One Bath was the song she used the piano as her percussion since Shahzad was playing guitar. And I agree, it was a fun song. Paul had let me know before the show that we were in for a treat, with the song likely debuting that night. They had been practicing it at sound check. (Paul,...

Minneapolis, MN -- Rossi's Blue Star Room -- Nov 5, 2005

Amazing show tonight!!!! Best yet in Minneapolis. Rossi's Blue Star Room (a jazz club) is a great venue for Vienna. They have a Steinway piano. All seating is at tables, since dinner is served prior to the show, so you're not packed in like at some clubs. And you have a good view of the performers. ...

I just ordered my tickets tonight. Ended up at table 409. I took the advice of the person at the club, who recommende this table over the tables right by the stage (e.g. 407, 408, 411) which he said are too close so that you have to look up at the stage all night. Not sure if he's right or not, but ...
