I've found the volume levels to be a little inconsistent so far (in that during the "story" tracks I have to turn things up to adequately hear, but the music is louder such that I have to turn the volume down) This bugs me about live albums in general. They're damned if they do (include s...

I'm debating whether I should order the CD or the Flash Drive. I like the CD format. it's neat for organizational purposes. I tend to only go digital when I don't have other readily available options (for example, I got The Paper Raincoat's album from iTunes only after not finding a convenient way t...

That Sixpence album made my Top 100 as well - good to see someone else acknowledging it. I'm excited that the band has reunited and is finally working on a new (non-seasonal) full-length.

Sorry, I missed that. Oh, it was buried farther down in the Top 100, not something I posted in the condensed version here, so I was just providing additional info to save you the trouble of slogging through the full articles. But I agree, best DMB since Crash. Maybe since Under the Table and Dreami...

There will be overlap with your list (and not just Vienna's albums), but mine will almost for sure include a couple from last year, Neko Case's Middle Cyclone and Dave Matthews Band's Big Whiskey and the Groo Grux King. Big Whiskey made my list as well. I haven't liked the DMB this much since the 9...

Your Favorite Albums of the Last Decade

OK, I'm back with another torturous listmaking activity! What were your favorite albums released during the years 2000-2009? I know many of us are likely to have several Vienna albums on that list, obviously, but I'm curious to see what else has stood the test of time with folks here. I wrote up my ...

Wow! You must have a lot of arms.

Oh, you meant play the recording. Silly me.

Then, one day, I was flipping channels when I happened upon an Asian American lady singing at the piano, playing a song that I have since found out to be called "Momentum." I wasn't quite impressed with her then - it was the middle of the song and "overcome me baby" sounded chee...

I was in line at the bank, unaware that Vienna was standing in line behind me, and suddenly out of nowhere, a stranger came up and pantsed me.

And that's how I was exposed to Vienna Teng.

Hotel Cafe, 6/29/09

Was anyone else at Vienna's Hotel Cafe show last night in Hollywood? My wife and I came to see Katie Herzig, actually. Though I knew Katie was opening for Vienna at some East Coast shows, I had no idea that they were performing together in L.A. So this was one hell of a bonus - two excellent singer/...

I agree with the musical thing. I've always pictured some sort of scene with two people singing Antebellum in a musical. True, though if it was really from a musical, then (a) it would probably be more of a duet all the way through the song rather than Alex just chiming in at the end, and (b) it wo...

I agree with this reviewer a 100%, but I don't understand why so many seem down on Alex for his vocals on Antebellum. I had suggeted that Vienna do some duets with other singers and I am glad she did it on this album. I think they compliment each other rather well. I think the problem there is that...

No one seems to have mentioned Mission Street yet. I wouldn't be sure that it's the saddest, but it's certainly in the running. Loneliness is very sad. That's another one of those glass half empty/glass half full things. It struck me as a song about making peace with living in a place that at first...

Re: Another Inland Territory Review

I found another review in the May/June issue of American Songwriter. The author, Lizza Connor Bowen, gives it three and a half stars, which equals, "swell", just a half step away from "exceptional".....the same grade as U2's new CD. U2's new CD is overrated. I like it - and I've...

murlough23, First, I would respectfully ask that you not take sentences out of someone's post and comment on them individually. Sorry. I was attempting to consider your post as a whole but respond to specific statements as I went through it (and also to not waste space - I know it bugs people on me...
